Rudolf Bandler (* 5 Mars 1878 à Rumburg , Autriche-Hongrie , † 14 Août 1944 à Łódź ) Tchèque-Allemand, Chanteur d'opéra (basse ) et directeur musical.
Rudolf Bandler a débuté sa carrière en 1904 au théâtre municipal de Trèves , et a poursuivi à Metz (1905-1907), au Théâtre de la Ville Essen (1907-1912) et au Volksoper Wien dans les années 1912-1921 et 1924-1927.
Il a fait quelques apparitions à Breslau (1905), Cologne (1908), Brême (1909), au Théâtre municipal de Hambourg (1909) et à l'Opéra d'État de Vienne.
En tant que Juif, il doit fuir l'Autriche en mars 1938 (après l'Anschluss) et se réfugier à Prague en Tchécoslovaquie avec sa femme et sa fille occupée par les Allemands.
Le 26 Octobre 1941 Bandler est déporté par le 3ème transport de Prague vers le Ghetto de Łódź en Pologne occupée. A partie du 3 mars 1942, il habitent Franciszkanska 109.
Sa femme, la pianiste Elizabeth (Lilly) Bandler (né le 20 Février, 1901) est également déportée dans le ghetto où elle décède.
Leur fille Susanne (Suse) (née le 5 mai 1924) participe à la Radio allemande de Prague (pièce radiophonique Hans et Franz sur la route du Paradis). Elle sera déportée dans le camp de concentration d'Auschwitz et a survécu à la Shoah.
Dans le ghetto de Lodz Bandler accompagné au piano par Dawid Bajgelman, participe à une soirée de concert, avec l'accord des autorités d'occupation. (21 novembre 1942)
Lilly Bandler a également joué lors de concerts dans le ghetto. Après la guerre, elle a émigré vers le Royaume-Uni, où elle était actrice. Elle est mort à 40 ans.
Rudolf Bander décède dans le ghetto le 14 Août 1944

“[…] A singer still demands to be heard. Rudolf Bandler of Prague is one of the most popular.
His deep baritone leaves room for the murky as well as the grotesque and the burlesque.
He sings aria from Italian operas, he sings them in an enthralling Italian parlando, and when he sings a ballad by Löwe or a Schubert song, then even the souls born in the ghetto feel as if they were at home,
remembering perhaps the poetry of Schiller and Heine, which, as is well known, had been some of the favorite verses among the Eastern Jews until their own, Yiddish literature pushed aside these German poets.”
