Tom Cipullo (geb. 1956) : After life (2015)
"After Life", Tom Cipullo's modern opera, investigates the role of art
in a distressed world, and asks heavy questions about an artist's obligation in
confronting humanity in all of its good and bad parts.
David Mason wrote the libretto for the work, which imagines a meeting between
Pablo Picasso and Gertrude Stein as ghosts, who show their brilliance and flaws.
Lori Laitman (geb. 1955) : In Sleep the World is Yours
Lori Laitman’s "In Sleep The World Is Yours", is a song cycle based on the
poetry of Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger (1924-1942), who died at 18 in a
Nazi labor camp in Ukraine. She was related to the famed poet Paul Celan.
This work premiered during MOR's Spring Concert: The Yellow Ticket on
